Dr. Carolyn L. Johnson is a native of Henrico Virginia, and was married to the late Leon Johnson. She is the proud parent of Katherine and Glen and grandmother of Christopher.

2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth,” has been the scripture that Dr. Johnson hides in her heart. She earned two undergraduate degrees, one from St. Paul’s College, Lawrenceville Virginia in Organizational Management and a degree from The Richmond Virginia Seminary in Theology. Dr. Johnson attained her Master’s Degree from Averett University, Danville Virginia in Business Administration and Doctored of Theology degree from The Virginia Triumphant College and Seminary in Richmond Virginia. Currently she is completing her dissertation for a doctored in Christian Education from Trinity College and Seminary in Newburg Indiana. She has also studied at Virginia State University, Virginia Commonwealth University and Howard University in Washington D. C.

Dr. Johnson has served in many capacities in the Richmond and surrounding areas. She has held positions as Assistant Pastor to The Northside Crusaders Baptist Church under Pastor John F. Tyler, Jr. from 2003 to 2007; Minister of Christian Education at Bethany Baptist Church in Sandston Virginia; workshop facilitator for conventions and churches; instructor at The Richmond Virginia Seminary from 1999 to 2009; missionary to St. Martin-2003; missionary to Haiti – 2008; pilgrim to Israel – 2008.

Dr. Johnson is the founder and chancellor of The Alpha and Omega Bible Study Institute founded in May, 2007. The school moved from its first location in Highland Springs due to the increase in enrollment to 3122 West Marshall Street in Richmond Virginia. Her desire was to have a place where everyone who wanted to learn the Word of God could attend regardless of their educational background. The school is managed on donations from the students as no tuition is charged. The only requirements for enrollment are an open mind and open heart to receive the word of God.

The Alpha and Omega Missions Bible Church was organized under the auspice of The Alpha and Omega Bible Study Institute by Dr. Johnson. This was a vision given to her in February 2009 to open a church for the homeless – a place for all of God’s creation in transition. The Lord made a way for the manifestation of the ministry in June 2009 as it had its first service. What began with six persons in a classroom has now grown to over 100 persons per week for services in a little white church at the corner of Altamont Avenue and West Marshall Street.

Dr. Johnson gives God the Glory for the great things He has done and is continuing to do in the life of this ministry to all of His people in transition.
